Power system maintenance during the pandemic
Even during this time, it’s important that we continue to work on critical maintenance projects on the system. Much of our work this time of year prepares and maintains the power system for summer.
SRP conducts routine inspections of our systems to ensure continued power delivery and safe operations for our customers. At times, we find equipment that requires maintenance or replacement.
Sometimes we have to shut power off on purpose while repairing those items. This ensures the safety of the SRP personnel performing the work.
We understand that our customers are likely to be home when we shut power off for maintenance because of the COVID-19 pandemic. We will do our best to ensure minimal impact. In addition, we will always let you know before the planned outage happens.
How to stay informed about outages
For planned outages, we will send you a letter prior to the outage to let you know when it will take place. Two days prior, we will also try to contact you by email or phone.
We also send outage alerts via email and text for planned and unplanned outages, so be sure to subscribe to those.
When you sign up for outage alerts, you’ll get notified about:
- Power outages at your home
- Causes of electrical outages
- Estimated restoration times
- When power is restored
At this time, we want you to be informed and feel comfortable knowing that we’re keeping the power on and the water flowing through the Valley.
