We can gather information on snow depth, environmental conditions and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These solar-powered sites are located at many locations on SRP\u2019s watershed at key elevations between 4,000 and 8,000 feet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SRP Snowtography helps us understand:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Snow depth and melt<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Snow levels and time on ground<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Changing watershed conditions each season<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How plant life changes over time<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">SRP Flowtography<sup>\u00ae<\/sup><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Similarly, we use photo technology to monitor the flow of water over time.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SRP Flowtography is a unique solar-powered technology developed by SRP. It helps us keep a close eye on and predict water conditions across our 8.3 million acres of watershed. As stewards of the Valley\u2019s water supply, this is very important.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">SRP Flowtography helps us understand: <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The flow of Arizona water and behavior of streams&nbsp; <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How streams and the environment around them change each season <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The impact of changing watershed conditions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Arizona water quality<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to monitoring the flow of water, our experts regularly test river, canal and well water before delivering raw water to Valley municipalities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That way, we can track changes in water quality, such as debris from wildfires, and keep our partners at Valley water treatment plants in the know.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Help keep Arizona water clean<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>First, consider joining the <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.srpnet.com\/es\/healthy-forest-initiative-strategic-thinning\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">La iniciativa de SRP Healthy Forest\u2122<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Other ways you can do your part:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Don\u2019t overdo it on fertilizers and pesticides.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Store lawn and garden chemicals securely.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Never pour chemicals down drains or sewers or on the ground.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Monitoring water quality allows SRP to continuously provide data to Valley cities that they can use to manage water supplies delivered to your home. This requires us to work collaboratively with our partners to provide customers with quality raw water.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Collaborative canals<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>SRP\u2019s system of canals is central to life in the Valley. Over 131 miles of winding pathways deliver water to Arizona residents daily.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Over the years, the canals have become a symbol of collaboration for the many communities they touch. Beyond water and power, these canals create a canvas of opportunity for all.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In fact, <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.srpnet.com\/es\/grand-canalscape-recreational-paths\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">recreational biking and jogging routes<\/a> and thoughtfully landscaped paths can be found along the canals. They continue to make our cities better.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Currently, we\u2019re working with nine cities to plan canal path projects. However, the canals aren\u2019t just there for recreation. In fact, they carry irrigation water to cities to be turned into drinking water, as well as to farms, parks, homes and schools.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Customers who <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.srpnet.com\/es\/srp-irrigation-101\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">receive irrigation water<\/a> benefit from a low-cost way of watering their trees and plants. Within hours, 2 to 3 inches of water soak into the ground.
