Es una de las formas de almacenamiento de energ\u00eda m\u00e1s antiguas y fiables del mundo, y est\u00e1 a punto de desempe\u00f1ar un papel importante en el futuro energ\u00e9tico de Arizona.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">C\u00f3mo funciona el almacenamiento por bombeo<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>En esencia, el almacenamiento por bombeo es un concepto sencillo. Movemos agua entre dos embalses, uno en lo alto y otro m\u00e1s abajo, utilizando electricidad para bombear el agua al embalse m\u00e1s alto cuando la demanda es baja o cuando tenemos un exceso de energ\u00eda solar o e\u00f3lica. Luego, cuando la demanda aumenta, liberamos esa agua hacia abajo, al embalse m\u00e1s bajo, a trav\u00e9s de turbinas, generando electricidad y devolvi\u00e9ndola a la red. Es limpio, eficiente e incre\u00edblemente eficaz.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Como Gerente de Programas de SRP, ayudo a supervisar los aspectos normativos y de divulgaci\u00f3n de nuestro proyecto de almacenamiento por bombeo. M\u00e1s all\u00e1 de los aspectos t\u00e9cnicos, me apasiona lo que este proyecto significa para nuestros clientes y nuestras comunidades. No se trata solo de satisfacer las necesidades energ\u00e9ticas actuales, sino de construir un sistema resiliente y sostenible para las generaciones futuras.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Este proyecto tiene el potencial de almacenar y generar hasta 2000 megavatios de electricidad. Para ponerlo en perspectiva, eso es suficiente para suministrar electricidad a entre 225,000 y 450,000 hogares durante 10 horas. Y a diferencia de muchas tecnolog\u00edas energ\u00e9ticas que deben reemplazarse despu\u00e9s de algunas d\u00e9cadas, esta instalaci\u00f3n est\u00e1 dise\u00f1ada para durar m\u00e1s de 100 a\u00f1os. Es una inversi\u00f3n multigeneracional en el futuro de Arizona.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Uno de los aspectos m\u00e1s emocionantes del almacenamiento por bombeo es c\u00f3mo complementa la energ\u00eda renovable. La energ\u00eda solar es abundante en Arizona, pero no siempre coincide con los momentos en que m\u00e1s necesitamos la electricidad. El almacenamiento por bombeo utiliza el exceso de energ\u00eda solar del mediod\u00eda para bombear agua cuesta arriba. Cuando la demanda de energ\u00eda alcanza su punto m\u00e1ximo por la noche, el agua se libera cuesta abajo para generar energ\u00eda hidroel\u00e9ctrica por bombeo. Es una combinaci\u00f3n perfecta.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">La seguridad es lo primero<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>S\u00e9 que algunos clientes han preguntado por el nuevo embalse superior y por qu\u00e9 no estar\u00e1 abierto para actividades recreativas. La respuesta tiene que ver con la seguridad y el funcionamiento.  \n\nLos niveles de agua en ese embalse fluctuar\u00e1n dr\u00e1sticamente, a veces m\u00e1s de 30 metros, a medida que traslademos agua entre los dos embalses. Esa variabilidad hace que no sea seguro navegar o nadar. Dicho esto, estamos estudiando formas de hacer que la zona alrededor del embalse sea accesible para el senderismo y otras actividades recreativas de bajo impacto.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u00bfPor qu\u00e9 utilizar agua para almacenar energ\u00eda?&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\">Dado que estamos en una sequ\u00eda, muchos se preguntan por qu\u00e9 utilizamos agua para almacenar energ\u00eda. Es una pregunta razonable. SRP tiene la gesti\u00f3n del agua en sus ra\u00edces, ya que lleva m\u00e1s de 100 a\u00f1os gestionando los r\u00edos Salt y Verde. Ambas cuencas hidrogr\u00e1ficas se alimentan en gran medida de las lluvias invernales y del deshielo, y se almacenan en millones de acres de bosque. Estos sistemas se encuentran en un equilibrio relativo, lo que significa que, en general, recibimos tanta o m\u00e1s agua de la que suministramos. Incluso en \u00e9pocas de sequ\u00eda severa, este proyecto no alterar\u00eda la forma en que almacenamos y suministramos el agua. Trabajamos constantemente para garantizar que nuestras cuencas hidrogr\u00e1ficas locales sean sostenibles y nos comprometemos a gestionarlas de manera responsable<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Al fin y al cabo, este proyecto es mucho m\u00e1s que megavatios. Se trata de electricidad y agua econ\u00f3micas, confiables y sostenibles. Se trata de garantizar que cuando enciendan la luz, hoy, ma\u00f1ana o dentro de 50 a\u00f1os, haya electricidad.
