Hispanic Heritage Month is recognized from Sept. 15 through Oct. 15 and SRP is kicking off a series of events to celebrate.
Connecting with the community: events and partnerships
While the DATOS (Sept. 20) and Tempe Tardeada (Oct. 6) events are taking place during the official time frame of Hispanic Heritage Month, SRP also partners with community groups and events throughout the year to support Hispanic-focused initiatives, such as the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute Leadership Conference and Valley del Sol’s Profiles of Success.
“As we celebrate Hispanic Heritage month, Valle del Sol recognizes that SRP has a strong and consistent history of supporting our patients, our leadership alumni and our staff,” said Kurt R. Sheppard, MA, President & Chief Executive Officer of Valle del Sol.
“We could not do the critical work we do in our Latino communities without SRP’s steadfast commitment.”Kurt R. Sheppard on SRP’s sponsorhip with Valle del Sol.
SRP will also be involved in the following upcoming events related to, but not during, official Hispanic Heritage Month celebrations:
- Chicanos Por La Causa, Esperanza Latino Teacher Awards Dinner (Oct. 23)
- Mesa Arts Center, Dia de los Muertos Festival (Oct. 26)
- Desert Botanical Garden, Dia de los Muertos Festival (Nov. 2–3)
Stories of Hispanic heritage
In addition to event partnerships, SRP will share Hispanic heritage-focused stories about employees, suppliers and partners that showcase the vital contributions the Hispanic community makes to the company and the region.
Readers can expect posts highlighting a local business owner and participant in SRP’s Supplier Diversity Program, as well as stories from a recent César E. Chávez Leadership Institute panel with SRP employees and more.
SRP content highlighting Hispanic Heritage Month can be found beginning next week on the company’s blog, SRP Connect!
“Recognizing Hispanic Heritage Month is an important way to honor the diverse people and cultures that make up our company and state,” said Erika Castro, Chair of ¡Hablamos SRP!, an SRP Employee Interest Group whose mission is to promote professional growth for employees, encourage community involvement and foster a culturally diverse workforce. “We look forward to celebrating our critical connections to this community — among employees, with community partners and with the wider region — all month long.”
