SRP is the top Arizona-headquartered company on the Forbes America’s Best Employers List
SRP has been named one of America’s Best Employers by Forbes and Statista. SRP was ranked No. 81 overall among large companies with more than 5,000 employees, up from No. 189 in 2018.
“Since our founding in 1903, SRP has been guided by a culture of service — service to our customers, service to our community and service to our employees,” said General Manager and CEO Mike Hummel. “It’s our honor to be recognized by the very people who dedicate their work to ensuring we can continue to move Arizona forward. We are proud to reciprocate that dedication with a forward-thinking culture and benefits that serve the needs of all our employees and their families.”
This is the second year SRP has appeared as a Forbes Best Employer.

“SRP’s ranking is a testament to the employees who work together each day to provide water and power to our customers,” said Renée Castillo, Senior Director, Human Resources, at SRP. “As a company, we work to provide our employees with competitive benefits and a supportive environment. Seeing these results – which are ranked by an independent third party surveying employees – means that our incredible team feels recognized.”
For more than 100 years, SRP has led the Valley in employee benefits including retirement pension, adoption-assistance, four-weeks paid parental leave and other modern benefits designed to meet employee needs at every life stage. These benefits include:
- 401(k) plan with employer matching
- Retirement pension
- Paid vacation
- Holiday pay
- Sick leave
- Medical, vision, dental and life insurance
- Wellness programs
- Pre-tax benefits
- Short and long-term disability plans
- Tuition assistance
SRP employees enjoy self-insured healthcare for low premiums and execptional healthcare cost management. Employees can also take advantage of a broad range of programs, such as financial planning assistance, legal assistance, recreational facilities and more.
The ranking is a collaboration with the analytics company Statista, which conducts an independent survey of 50,000 employees working in their U.S. locations to generate the list. Surveys are anonymous and ask open-ended questions regarding the employer to rank likeability.
In order to be considered for the list, companies must receive at least 100 recommendations, either indirect or direct. The average amount of recommendations for companies that appear on the list is 150. The list, which is in its fifth year, ranks companies most liked by its employees and is broken into two categories: one for large companies and another for midsize companies with 1,000 to 5,000 employees.
