SRP Touchdowns for Teachers™ is successfully bringing innovation to classrooms across the state. For every touchdown the Arizona Cardinals scored during the regular season, we awarded two lucky teachers each a $500 classroom grant.
Here’s how some of the winning educators used or plan to use their grants.
“I plan to use the funds to bring additional Wipebooks into my classroom to further implement the Building Thinking Classrooms model that I have adopted into my middle school ELA classroom. Research by Dr. Peter Liljedahl shows that when students collaborate at vertical non-permanent surfaces, they are nearly 20% more engaged and demonstrate significantly higher rates of problem-solving persistence and retention compared to traditional seatwork.”
— Sixth grade teacher at Arizona College Prep Middle School
“The competitive jazz choir of mine was able to buy five microphones! We are grateful and so excited to have these to practice and perform with.”
— Choir director at Casteel High School
“With this support, I plan to enrich my classroom by providing literature and resources that will greatly benefit my ESL students. Additionally, I teach a leadership class called Latinos in Action, for which I intend to purchase necessary supplies to support our leadership projects as well as our Literature Garden.”
— English language development teacher
“As leader of the school garden club, I plan to use some of the grant to rejuvenate our garden for the fall! The rest will go to our new maker space we have in the works!”
— Sixth grade teacher at Playa Del Rey Elementary School
“I currently have a very small classroom library, but this year I am teaching seventh and eighth grade ELA special education resource classes, so I need books at lower reading levels for students so they can be successful.”
— Teacher at Carson Junior High School
We prioritize supporting the workforce of tomorrow, and this is one of many ways we are doing just that. Here are other education grants and opportunities for Arizona teachers.
