5 ways to save on energy-efficient home upgrades

Making energy-efficient home upgrades can save money on your energy bill while making your home cozier!  That’s why we offer year-round incentives for making energy efficiency upgrades at home.

When customers save, we save, so we wanted to share five offers you can take advantage of in order to make your home more efficient, starting with a Home Energy Audit.

Home Energy Audit rebate

Consider our Home Energy Audit a jumping off point to your energy efficiency journey.

During a Home Energy Audit, a qualified, participating contractor will complete a comprehensive inspection of your home. Recommendations will be based on an understanding of your home’s energy usage while reviewing your home’s:

  • Insulation effectiveness
  • Heating, ventilation and air-conditioning performance
  • Air duct leakage and restrictions
  • Construction integrity issues
  • Ceiling and other “hot spot” areas

The benefit to you? Save $100 off the cost of the audit when conducted by a participating contractor. Plus, you’ll have a customized action plan and know which upgrades to focus on first.

Air conditioner rebate

During the summer, air conditioning can account for 50% or more of your total electric bill. That’s why we offer cash back for customers who make the switch to a more efficient AC unit. Making the switch can help you reduce AC energy usage by 20%-50%.**

Through the SRP Cool Cash™ program, customers can get up to $1,125 back on a new energy-efficient air conditioner (AC), heat pump or mini-split system.

Duct Test and Repair rebate

In a typical home, about 20% of the air that moves through the duct system is lost because of improper insulation. In other words, leaky ducts can cost you $200 or more a year. It may be time for a duct repair if you notice a significant difference between your home’s hottest and coldest rooms.

SRP’s rebate program covers 75% of repair costs or up to $400 of duct testing and qualified repairs.

Insulation rebate

Because there are many old homes in the Valley, you’ve likely been in an old home that lacks proper insulation. Not only can you tell the difference (it’s usually considerably warmer), but the home’s AC can too. The less insulated the home is, the harder the AC will have to work to cool it down.

When combined with sealed air leaks, properly installed insulation provides for more even temperatures throughout the house, resulting in a quieter, more comfortable home. It can help you save about 10% on cooling and heating costs.

SRP’s insulation rebate covers 75% off the insulation cost (up to $600) when installed by a participating contractor.

Shade screen rebate

Did you know that about 50% of the heat that enters your home comes through windows? That’s why covering windows with shade screens can be one of the most effective and low-cost upgrades to make to a home. Shade screens provide a handful of benefits like:

  • Blocking heat gain
  • Protecting interiors from sun damage
  • Added privacy
  • Lower cooling costs
  • A more comfortable home

Customers who have shade screens professionally installed will receive a rebate of $0.80 per square foot.

We invite you to start taking advantage of these rebates today and to discover more ways to save through our tips, offers and discounts. Start saving with SRP today.
