Save on energy-efficient home upgrades

Making energy-efficient home upgrades can help you save money on your energy bill while also making your home cozier! That’s why we offer year-round incentives for making energy efficiency upgrades at home. Make sure you’re taking advantage of the savings and rebates available for all areas of your home.

Home Energy Audit

Whether you want to complete your own online assessment or have an expert audit your home in person or virtually, completing an evaluation is a great way to identify issues and uncover savings. If you decide to schedule an assessment, you will receive a home analysis and a customized action plan that provides you with personalized recommendations to help you save energy and money. Customers can also receive a $100 discount when scheduling an in-person audit with a contractor.

Air Conditioner

During the summer, air conditioning can account for 50% or more of your total electric bill, according the eia.gov. That’s why we offer up to $1,125 in cash back for customers who upgrade to a more efficient AC unit. Making the switch can help you reduce AC energy usage by 20%-50%, according to energy.gov.

Duct System

In a typical home, about 20% of the air that moves through the duct system is lost because of improper sealing. In other words, leaky ducts can cost you $200 or more a year, according to energy.gov.*  It may be time for a duct repair if you notice a significant difference between your home’s hottest and coldest rooms. SRP covers up to $400 in qualified repairs.

Insulation

Because there are many older homes in the Valley, you’ve likely been in one that lacks proper insulation. Not only can you tell the difference (it’s usually considerably warmer), but the home’s AC can too. The less insulated the home is, the harder the AC will have to work to cool it down.

When combined with sealed air leaks, properly installed insulation provides for more even temperatures throughout the house, resulting in a quieter, more comfortable home. This can help you save about 10%* on cooling and heating costs. Save up to 75% on professionally installed attic insulation – up to $600 – with a rebate from SRP.

Windows

According to energy.gov, more than 70% of the heat that enters your home comes through the windows. This makes installing shade screens or window film one of the most effective and affordable energy efficiency upgrades. Shade screens and window film provide many benefits, such as:

  • Blocking heat gain
  • Protecting interiors from sun damage
  • Adding privacy
  • Lowering cooling costs
  • Creating a more comfortable home

Customers who have shade screens installed will receive a rebate of $1 per square foot.

If your efficiency needs go beyond adding shade, you also have the option of upgrading your windows and skylights. Customers can earn a rebate of $3 per square foot from SRP on professionally installed ENERGY STAR® rated replacement windows. Benefits include blocking 70% or more of the solar heat gain in the summer, according to energystar.gov, as well as improving the comfort and value of the home.

Roof

Heat transfer can be reduced by reflecting sunlight, and we have a perfect solution for the area of the home that takes on the sun’s beams directly. This rebate on cooling paint for rooftops can improve your home’s comfort while reducing cooling demand by 11%–27%, according to epa.gov. Get a rebate of up to $600 on installed cool roofing material.

Heat Pump Water Heater

Investing in a new ENERGY STAR certified heat pump water heater (HPWH) can save a household of four approximately $470 per year on electric bills and more than $4,500 over the HPWH’s lifetime.* Larger families — that typically use more hot water — will save even more!

Replace your aging electric water heater before it fails and start enjoying the savings right away.

*Results will vary based on your existing system, size of home, comfort preferences and price plan.

  1. Why are there not any rebates nor any details about replacement windows. Many homes have single pane windows , and i want to know how much heat will be prevented from entering my home during the summer. I’m considering double pane , gas filled replacement windows

    1. Hi Debby, thank you for the question. While we do not currently offer a rebate on windows, we do offer two free shade trees and a rebate for professionally installed shade screens.
