5 ways to save on energy-efficient home upgrades

Making energy-efficient home upgrades can save money on your energy bill while making your home cozier!  That’s why we offer year-round incentives for making energy efficiency upgrades at home.

When customers save, we save, so we wanted to share five offers you can take advantage of in order to make your home more efficient.

Home Energy Manager:

Our online Home Energy Manager™ tool is a free, do-it-yourself home energy assessment for SRP customers. The assessment includes a home analysis and a customized action plan that provides you with personalized recommendations to help you save energy and money.

A Rebate

During the summer, air conditioning can account for 50% or more of your total electric bill. That’s why we offer cash back for customers who make the switch to a more efficient AC unit. Making the switch can help you reduce AC energy usage by 20%-50%.**

Through the SRP Cool Cash™ Rebate program, customers can get up to $1,125 back on a new energy-efficient air conditioner, heat pump or mini-split system.

SRP Duct Test and Repair Rebate

In a typical home, about 20% of the air that moves through the duct system is lost because of improper sealing. In other words, leaky ducts can cost you $200 or more a year. It may be time for a duct repair if you notice a significant difference between your home’s hottest and coldest rooms.

SRP’s rebate program covers 75% of repair costs or up to $400 of duct testing and qualified repairs.

SRP Insulation Rebate

Because there are many old homes in the Valley, you’ve likely been in one that lacks proper insulation. Not only can you tell the difference (it’s usually considerably warmer), but the home’s AC can too. The less insulated the home is, the harder the AC will have to work to cool it down.

When combined with sealed air leaks, properly installed insulation provides for more even temperatures throughout the house, resulting in a quieter, more comfortable home. It can help you save about 10% on cooling and heating costs.

SRP’s insulation rebate covers 75% off the insulation cost (up to $600) when installed by a participating contractor.

SRP Shade Screen Rebate

Did you know that about 50% of the heat that enters your home comes through the windows? This makes sahde screens and window film some of the most effective and affordable energy efficiency upgrades. Shade screens and Window Films provide a handful of benefits like:

  • Blocking heat gain
  • Protecting interiors from sun damage
  • Added privacy
  • Lower cooling costs
  • A more comfortable home

Customers who have shade screens professionally installed will receive a rebate of $1 per square foot.

We invite you to start taking advantage of these rebates today and to discover more ways to save through our tips, offers and discounts. Start saving with SRP today.

**According to energy.gov. Results will vary based on your existing system, size of home, comfort preferences and price plan.

  1. Why are there not any rebates nor any details about replacement windows. Many homes have single pane windows , and i want to know how much heat will be prevented from entering my home during the summer. I’m considering double pane , gas filled replacement windows

    1. Hi Debby, thank you for the question. While we do not currently offer a rebate on windows, we do offer two free shade trees and a rebate for professionally installed shade screens.
