¡Hablamos SRP! is an ERG that has engaged employees and our community for over 20 years. They work to create opportunities that promote professional growth, encourage community outreach, and have an overall positive impact on the Hispanic population. The Vice Chair of ¡Hablamos SRP!, Angelina E., shares her experience with the ERG and lifting up the Hispanic community.
Angelina is a Phoenix native who’s passionate about all of the adventures that Arizona’s local landscape has to offer. She’s the Executive Analyst for our water stewardship organization and has been with SRP for 17 years. Since joining ¡Hablamos SRP! just over five years ago, she’s made many fond memories within the ERG, who she describes as her familia.
One of the first major events to be held in person since the pandemic was the highly anticipated Salsa Challenge, an annual signature event in which 10 employee-led teams enter their own personal salsa recipes for judging by fellow SRP employees. Angelina co-chaired the event, unsure if they would achieve the full 200 attendees they initially planned for. To her surprise, over 700 employees attended. Through this event, they were able to raise approximately $12,000 for ALL In Education, a nonprofit that supports communities most impacted by education inequity. ¡Hablamos SRP! continues to grow in their presence at SRP and within the community.
Más allá del ámbito laboral
SRP reconoce la importancia de involucrarse en la comunidad hispana.
“Since the turn of the 20th century, SRP has always been an anchor within our greater community, serving both our water and power customers,” said Angelina. “With a large portion of our customers, and employees alike, being of Hispanic heritage, there is an inherently vital connection between SRP and the Hispanic community.”
Angelina’s desire to be an active advocate for the Hispanic population is constantly reignited through her volunteerism at the East Valley Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. Serving as a board member for two years, she helps follow through on their mission to promote the economic growth and empowerment of all business enterprises within the East Valley.
