SRP has three main types of price plans:
- Basic: No on- or off-peak hours
- SRP M-Power®: Prepaid, pay-as-you-go solution for budget-minded customers
- Time-of-Day:
- SRP Time-of-Use Price Plan™ (TOU): Medium-cost on-peak hours for six to eight hours on weekdays; peak hours change seasonally
- Residential Demand: On-peak hours for six hours on weekdays while avoiding use of major appliances
- SRP Electric Vehicle Price Plan™: Super off-peak hours for charging electric vehicles
- SRP EZ-3 Price Plan™ (EZ-3): High-cost on-peak hours for only three hours on weekdays
You might be wondering, “What’s the difference between Time-of-Use and EZ-3? Why have six to eight on-peak hours versus three?”
To help prevent strain on the power grid, our price plans are designed to encourage customers to curb their energy usage during higher-cost hours. The higher the demand for energy, the more expensive it is to generate.

Which plan is right for you? Breaking down SRP price plans
Let’s take a closer look at each price plan type and the energy use habits that can help you save on your bill.
Basic Price Plan
On the SRP Basic Price Plan, the price per kWh is always the same no matter when you use electricity.
The basic price plan is for you if:
- Your home is small to average in size
- You do not use a lot of energy
- You cannot shift your energy usage
- You live in a home only part-time
- One person resides in the home
We recommend that you consider another price plan if your home’s energy use has increased, or you have a pool.
Time-of-Use
The SRP Time of Use Price Plan offers lower energy prices to customers who can shift their energy use to off-peak hours. On-peak hours are from 2-8 p.m. May through October and from 5-9 a.m. and 5-9 p.m. November through April. Customers on this price plan will pay lower prices during all other hours, including weekends and six observed holidays.
TOU is ideal for customers who:
- Can use major appliances before or after higher-cost on-peak hours
- Have an average to large-size home
- Have a pool
EZ-3 Price Plan
On the SRP EZ-3 Price Plan, customers can choose on-peak hours of either 3-6 p.m. or 4-7 p.m. Customers on this plan will pay lower-cost off-peak prices during all other hours, including weekends and six observed holidays.
This plan is ideal for customers who:
- Can plan ahead to reduce using power for three on-peak hours each weekday
- Have an average to large-size home
- Have a pool
- Can precool their home
Ways to maximize energy savings at home
For a lot of customers, energy usage habits have changed drastically over the last year. Here are some tips and refreshers on how to use less energy during on-peak hours.
- Get a smart thermostat to put your AC on a schedule.
- Precool your home two to three hours before your plan’s on-peak hours begin.
- Run your pool pump during off-peak hours.
- Grill outside during the summer to keep your kitchen cool.
- Wash your clothes during off-peak hours.
Saving energy can even be fun for the whole family. Reward good habits like turning off lights and unplugging electronics when they aren’t being used. You might give children stars on their weekly chore chart for using electronics during off-peak hours or reminding parents to grill at night.
Reward the family with a pizza, game or movie night. Perhaps monitor your savings and share how much you saved with the family each month and put it toward a fun activity.
