Side by side with the Hispanic community

At SRP, we are committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive environment where every customer, employee and member of our community feels valued and empowered.

In the community

We actively engage with local organizations and initiatives that focus on education, mentorship and economic development within the Hispanic community. These partnerships allow us to contribute to important causes and support programs that align with our company values.

When asked about our external efforts to support the Hispanic community, Rori Minor, SRP Community Engagement Strategist, expressed how she views SRP as a proven leader in supporting Hispanic organizations and things that are important to the Latino community.

“I know we use the word ‘support’ a lot, but it truly goes beyond that,” said Minor. “We value the Hispanic community. We’re not just here to fund programs and hope it gets better. We are invested long-term because we see the value of the Hispanic community and how that’s going to impact all of our futures.”

Read on for ways in which we work with the Hispanic community year-round.

Chicanos Por La Causa

Chicanos Por La Causa (CPLC) has a long history of serving the community by providing resources for housing, education, utility assistance, advocacy and so much more.

As part of SRP’s partnership with Chicanos Por La Causa, we support the Esperanza Latino Teacher Awards, which honor four exceptional teachers each year through education grants. This year, we hosted the awards ceremony where we recognized the following teachers for their selflessness and dedication:

  • Erika Acosta
  • Margaret Gallego
  • Gabriel Robles
  • Lilian Williams

 ALL In Education

ALL In Education supports the Hispanic community by doing research to identify the gaps in the education system. SRP partners with ALL In Education by supporting and assisting with their Mapa Report, which investigates the imbalance of representation in our schools.

Mapa is the foundation of evaluating, measuring and reporting where the gaps are in our education system and why they are happening and addressing the needs of the community so we can put in the work to change the narrative related to our Latino students.

Within SRP

Our Employee Resource Group (ERG) ¡Hablamos SRP! helps us connect with and uplift the Hispanic community.

¡Hablamos SRP! plays a crucial role in advocating for Hispanic employees and promoting cultural month awareness. This group organizes events, networking opportunities and professional development workshops that highlight Hispanic culture.

¡Hablamos SRP! is extremely active as they regularly host events with our internal employee base and external partners to help inspire the next generation of employees. According to Juana Hernandez, Community Stewardship Representative, “The [¡Hablamos SRP!] ERG provides resources for our employees by being a place where you can collaborate, network and grow together within the company, as well as celebrate each other’s success and professional development.”

Why this matters

Supporting the Hispanic community is more than just a corporate initiative; it is an integral part of our company’s identity. For our employees, these efforts foster a sense of belonging and pride. When we celebrate culturally significant events such as Hispanic Heritage Month, we reaffirm our commitment to diversity and inclusion, creating an environment where every employee can thrive and contribute their best.

Our external and internal initiatives help build bridges between our company and the communities we serve. By championing Hispanic culture and supporting Hispanic individuals, we not only enrich our workplace but also contribute positively to society.

“As a Latina, it makes me proud to see that the company I work for is supportive of the Latino community in so many ways, and I love that we support events that celebrate my culture.”
Juana Hernandez, Community Stewardship Representative, SRP

At SRP, we are proud to stand with the Hispanic community and look forward to continuing our efforts to promote inclusion and celebrate the rich cultural heritage that enriches us all.

Welcoming a diverse workforce

SRP strives to cultivate a workforce that reflects the communities in which we live and work.
